Imperial Oil Closure

ONTARIO PCs REACT TO IMPERIAL OIL CLOSURE

SARNIA – “The closure of Imperial’s Lubricant Blending Packing and Shipping Gate is a huge blow to our region,” said PC MPP Bob Bailey, the Ontario PC Critic for Natural Resources (Oil, Gas & Aggregates).

Bailey was reacting to news that Imperial Oil will close its Lubricant Blending Packing and Shipping Gate. According to media reports, up to 60 positions will be affected.

“Imperial has operated in Sarnia for over 100 years. But it only took ten years of Liberal rule for the company to be forced into cutting staff in Ontario.”

“With Imperial saying they’ve made this decision for ‘competitive reasons’, this one can be laid squarely at Kathleen Wynne’s feet,” said Bailey. “This afternoon, 60 families are the latest victims of skyrocketing energy prices and anti-business measures that are forcing companies out of this province.”

“We need to balance the books and make energy more affordable, so this doesn’t happen again. My heart goes out to families affected by this closure.”
