Electricity Prices Increase Again!

On Thursday, the Liberal Government increased energy rates once again.  Effective May 1, 2016, time of use prices for eligible consumers are 8.7 cents per kWh for off-peak, 13.2 cents per kWh for mid-peak and 18.0 cents per kWh for on-peak.  As further proof of the complete mess the Liberal Government has made of the system, the reason given by the Ontario Energy Board for the rate increase is as follows: “Ontarians consumed less electricity than expected over the recent milder winter.  As a result of lower usage, Regulated Price Plan (RPP) prices did not recover the full cost of serving RPP customers.  One of the main reasons prices are increasing is May is to recover this shortfall.”

The Liberal Government is charging you more for conserving energy!

The Official Opposition Ontario PC Caucus asked for the Liberals to include a plan to rein in skyrocketing energy rates in their 2016 Budget.  They didn’t listen.  By maintaining their failed policies, hydro rates will continue to become more unaffordable for Ontarians.
