SUDBURY — The Ontario government is supporting an investment of more than $3 million by Flosonics Medical, makers of the FloPatch wireless blood monitoring system. The province is investing more than $1.5 million through the Ontario Together Fund to help scale up the manufacturing and distribution of Flosonic’s cutting-edge medical devices. This will create 10 jobs in Sudbury and Toronto.

“Through the Ontario Together Fund, our government is supporting innovative medical technologies, so we can unleash Ontario’s economic potential.” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “We are proud to partner with Flosonics Medical to increase their production capacity, which will help secure additional Ontario-made medical device manufacturing.

Flosonics Medical, a Sudbury-based medical device company, is the maker of the FloPatch, the world’s first wearable wireless Doppler ultrasound device for assessingblood flow non-invasively. This information is then delivered wirelessly and instantaneously to a medical practitioner’s tablet.

With this investment, Flosonics will strengthen its manufacturing and distribution infrastructure with advanced equipment and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for its medical devices. This will help secure Ontario’s position as a premier destination to develop and manufacture medical technologies.

“Flosonics Medical is pleased to partner with the Government of Ontario on this important project,” said Joe Eibl, Flosonics Medical’s co-founder and CEO. “The investment will enable scale-up capacity and secure local manufacturing for the production of wearable and wireless medical solutions in Ontario.”

Supporting innovative projects like Flosonics Medical’s FloPatch is why Ontario has invested an additional $50 million in the renewed Ontario Together Fund in 2021–22. The fund continues to support local innovators and businesses to further enhance Ontario’s domestic supply chain capacity, promote Ontario’s MedTech ecosystem and build up our manufacturing sector to ensure the province is well-prepared for future challenges.

The renewed Ontario Together Fund is focused on supporting homegrown manufacturing and innovation to combat COVID-19, and providing other goods critical to the health, safety, and security of Ontarians beyond this pandemic.
